About our Sessions

‍Play sessions are in fixed time slots each day to allow us time to put all the toys back to where they belong as well as to clean and safety check the areas between groups of children attending.
‍
Each session is 90 minutes and is charged per child attending - Adults are free, but must be accompanied by a child!
‍
We don’t mind toys being moved around from station to station - in fact we encourage it!  This does mean we have quite a clear up job every couple of hours, so we appreciate your co operation in leaving promptly after your sessions to give us time to prepare.
‍
To keep the area clean and safe, all children must remove their shoes and join the play area in their socks. We ask that grown ups playing also follow the no shoe rule.
‍
During the sessions a selection of Hot drinks and snacks are available from our Cafe bar.

Our Imagination Stations

‍Our fixed areas - or as we like to call them “imagination stations” include a Shop, Building site, Beauty salon, Home, Veterinary practice, and Space Station.  

Each area has a range of toys to help your Tiny Treasure to develop social skills and an understanding of the world around them.

We are proud to use a range of high quality resources both from reputable toy stockists and every day items that incorporate a range of colours, letters and shapes for the children to learn from, whilst kindling their imaginations.

Why Role Play

There are many benefits of role play in early years, learning through play is recognised as an essential part of child development.
Pushing back the barriers of reality and taking on the role of someone else helps a child to develop many different important life skills.  

Pretend play allows children to:

• Evolve their imagination and story skills
• Teaches them collaboration and empathy with others
• Helps to expand their vocabulary
• Promotes problem solving and mathematics skills
• Is often a physical activity developing gross and fine motor skills.

Covid-19 best practices

Tiny Town have always ben conscious of keeping our venue clean and our toys lovely for all of our children to play.  To ensure we are complying with COVID-19 best practice we have changed our play areas and processes to the following:

• Reduced number of sessions in the day with longer cleaning gaps and time in the evening for a “deeper” clean
• Purchased additional toys for our most popular areas to allow more space for children to play / more resources for them to explore with better spacing
• Removed carpet from the play room - replaced with easy to clean specialist vinyl floor and under floor heating to keep warm in winter!
• Removed soft toys that cannot be easily cleaned
• Purchased additional sanitising and cleaning apparatus
• Required adults to wear masks when moving around the play areas.
• Required pre-booking online to comply with track and trace
• Completed additional risk assessments on activities to ensure that we identify issues

Please remember parents are responsible for supervising their own child through play and for helping them to observe distancing where possible, please ensure you are courteous to other centre visitors and that you agree on children distancing / getting closer, do not assume other families are as comfortable with mixing play as you.
